The Hot Water Systems We Replace

Leaking, rusted and worn out systems swapped for the right new one, at a price agreed before any work starts.

Leaking Or Rusted Tanks

Water pooling under the tank or rust streaks down its side usually mean the inside has rusted through, and a tank that leaks from its body cannot be patched.

Old Electric Tanks

An electric tank that has given years of service but now loses pressure or runs out early, swapped like for like or for a bigger one.

Brown Or Rusty Hot Water

Yellow or brown water from the hot tap while the cold runs clear often means rust inside the tank, a sign it is close to the end.

Outdoor Tanks Down The Side

Tanks down the side passage replaced in the same spot where it works, or moved somewhere better while the new one goes in.

How Bad Is Your Old Hot Water System?

Three signs your hot water system needs replacing, from most to least urgent.

Water Leaking From The Tank

Turn off the cold water valve going into the system, switch off its power or gas, and call. A tank leaking from its body cannot be repaired, only replaced.

No Hot Water From An Old System

If the system is getting old and has broken down before, ask for a fixed price on both a repair and a new system, then decide.

Rust Marks Or Running Out

Rust around the base, brown hot water, or a household that has outgrown the tank all mean it is time to plan a replacement before it fails.

Check The Old System

We look at the old system, the space, the gas and power supply and how much hot water the house uses, then recommend a tank or a continuous flow unit.

Hot Water Systems FAQs

Answer:

It depends on the type and size of the new system, whether it runs on gas or electricity, and whether it goes in the same spot. We look at the old system first, then give you one fixed price that includes taking it out, to approve before any work starts. There is nothing to pay just for us to come and look during business hours. The hot water system replacement cost guide shows what moves the price by system type.

Answer:

Swapping a hot water system is licensed work in NSW: the water connection is plumbing work, a gas connection needs a licensed gas fitter, and the electrical connection is licensed electrical work. What you can safely do is turn the old one off at the cold water valve and switch off its power or gas while you wait.

Answer:

Replace it when the tank itself is leaking or badly rusted, when it keeps breaking down, or when the household has outgrown it. A faulty valve, element or thermostat on a sound tank is usually worth repairing. We tell you which on the spot, with a fixed price for either.

Answer:

A like-for-like swap in the same spot is often done the same day where we can. Changing from electric to gas, moving the system or running new pipes takes longer, and we tell you how long before we start.

Answer:

An electric tank is the simplest swap for most houses. With natural gas, a gas tank or a continuous flow unit is an option, and continuous flow heats water as you use it, so it does not run out mid-shower. Solar and heat pump systems cost more to put in but use less energy to run. We recommend one based on your household and supply.

Answer:

Yes, if there is a natural gas supply at the property. The gas line may need extending to where the new unit goes, and the old electric tank is disconnected and taken away. We price the whole change as one fixed price.

Answer:

Yes. Disconnecting and taking away the old system is part of the fixed price for a replacement.

Answer:

We work with all the major brands, including Rheem, Rinnai, Dux, Thermann, Bosch, Vulcan and Aquamax, in electric and gas storage tanks and continuous flow units.
