Pipe Relining Sydney — Repair Without Digging
Pipe relining is a no-dig solution to repair cracked, broken or root-damaged drainage pipes. Instead of excavating the entire pipe run (which can mean digging up driveways, gardens, or concrete slabs), our team of licensed Sydney plumber technicians installs a resin-impregnated liner inside the existing pipe. The liner cures into a smooth, seamless, jointless new pipe-within-a-pipe that lasts 50+ years.
When Pipe Relining Beats Pipe Replacement
- Pipe runs under driveways, paths, concrete slabs, or established gardens
- Cracked clay or earthenware sewer lines in older Sydney suburbs (pre-1980 homes)
- Tree root intrusion that has cracked but not fully collapsed the pipe
- Joint failures between sections of an otherwise intact pipe
- Sections where excavation cost would exceed the relining cost
The Pipe Relining Process
Step 1: CCTV inspection to map the pipe and identify the damaged sections. Step 2: hydro-jet clean (jet blasting) to prep the pipe wall — a clean surface is essential for the liner to bond. Step 3: measure and cut the liner to length, then impregnate with epoxy resin. Step 4: inflate the liner inside the pipe and cure (UV or ambient cure depending on liner type). Step 5: final CCTV to confirm the new lining is intact. Whether it's big or small, our qualified plumber team services your entire plumbing system end-to-end — fixed price quotes, no hourly rates, lifetime workmanship guarantee. Call 1300 677 752.

What Is Pipe Relining?
Pipe relining is a no-dig method for repairing damaged sewer, stormwater and drainage pipes. Instead of excavating your yard or breaking concrete to replace broken sections, we insert a resin-impregnated felt liner inside the existing pipe. When the resin cures, the pipe is structurally repaired from the inside — restored to better-than-new condition with a manufacturer warranty.
The result: no garden destruction, no driveway concrete to repair, no week-long projects. Most residential jobs are done in a single visit. We’ve completed pipe relining across Sydney for homes and businesses — inner-city terraces with tight access through to Hills District properties with long underground runs.
Common phrases for this service: CIPP relining, cured-in-place pipe lining, trenchless drain repair, no-dig pipe repair. They all describe the same technique. We use jet blasting to pre-clean the pipe and a drain camera inspection to confirm the repair has cured cleanly.
Signs You Need Pipe Relining
Most pipe relining jobs start when something seems “just blocked” but keeps coming back. A drain camera shows the real cause — cracks, root intrusion or section misalignment that no amount of cleaning can fix permanently. Here are the most common signs:
Recurring blockages
Same drain blocks 3+ times in a year — the pipe is damaged inside, not just clogged.
Tree roots in toilet
Roots have penetrated the pipe and are growing through cracks.
Slow drainage returning
Drain clears for a week, then slows again. Surface roots growing back through cracks.
Gurgling drains
Air pockets from misaligned pipe sections or partial blockages.
Wet patches in yard
Leaking pipe seeping water underground — sometimes with sinkholes.
Sewer smell outside
Cracks in the sewer line letting gases escape into the yard.
Our Pipe Relining Process
Free CCTV inspection
We send a camera through your pipes from the nearest access point. You see the damage in real time and we record the footage for your records.
Fixed-price quote on the spot
Based on the inspection — pipe length, diameter, damage type, access — we quote a fixed price before any work starts. No call-out fee, no hourly billing.
Pre-clean the pipe
We hydro-jet the inside of the pipe to remove debris, roots and any blockage. The pipe must be clean for the liner to bond properly.
Install the liner
A resin-impregnated felt sleeve is fed into the pipe and inflated to press against the inner wall. The resin cures and bonds to the existing pipe.
Final CCTV verification
After curing, we run the camera through again to confirm the relining is complete and smooth. You get a written manufacturer warranty on the liner.
Total time on site: typically 4–6 hours for a residential job. Larger commercial or multi-section jobs may take a full day. You can’t use the relined drain during the curing window (a few hours).

Pipe Relining FAQ
How long does pipe relining last?
The liner is rated for a long design life — in practice well-installed liners exceed decades of normal use. The resin material becomes the new structural pipe; the original pipe behind it is irrelevant once the liner has cured.
Will pipe relining work on my pipe?
Relining works on pipes that are damaged but still structurally sound enough to host a liner. We confirm this with a free CCTV inspection. The small percentage that aren’t suitable usually need traditional excavation — we tell you upfront.
How long does the job take?
A standard residential job is 4–6 hours: inspection, pre-clean, liner installation, cure time, and post-CCTV. Larger commercial jobs may take a full day.
Is pipe relining cheaper than excavation?
Almost always. Excavating a 5-metre section of pipe in a suburban Sydney backyard typically costs much more than relining the same section — and your garden, driveway and landscape stay intact.
Do I need council approval?
Not for relining work that stays within your property boundary. If the work touches the council main connection we handle the approval. We work with Sydney Water and council connections regularly.
Will you make a mess in my house?
Most pipe relining is accessed through external clean-outs or yard inspection pits — no entry to the house required. If we need to access through a downstairs floor, we put down protective covers and clean up everything.
How is pipe relining different from CIPP?
CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) is the technical term for the method we use. The terms are interchangeable: pipe relining, CIPP relining, drain relining all describe the same trenchless technique.
Can you reline copper, PVC or clay pipes?
Yes — the liner is method-agnostic. We’ve relined clay, cast iron, PVC and concrete pipes. Different host materials may need slightly different liner specifications, but the technique works on all.
