This policy explains how Mr Splash Plumbing (ABN 56 603 812 460) handles personal information. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Mr Splash Plumbing.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to quote, book and complete plumbing work, and to answer your enquiries. That usually means:

  • Your name, phone number and email address.
  • The address where the work is needed, and your suburb.
  • What you have told us about the job, including messages you send us and our chatbot.
  • Photographs of the work site and the completed work, taken by our technicians.
  • Payment details, which are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card number.
  • Basic technical information when you use our website, such as the pages you visit and the source that referred you.

You do not have to identify yourself if you would rather not. You can call us anonymously for general information. We cannot attend a job or issue a quote without contact details.

Why we collect it

  • To prepare quotes and carry out the plumbing work you ask for.
  • To contact you about a job, including scheduling, arrival times and follow-up.
  • To take payment and issue invoices and receipts.
  • To meet our record-keeping, licensing, warranty and tax obligations.
  • To improve our service, including reviewing enquiries and chat transcripts.
  • To send you marketing, but only if you have separately agreed to it.

Verifying your mobile number

When you submit an enquiry or use our chatbot, we send a one-time code by SMS to confirm the number is real. This keeps automated spam out of our system and means a plumber can actually reach you. The code is delivered by our messaging provider, and we record that the number was verified.

Marketing

We only send marketing to people who have asked for it. You will never be added to a marketing list simply because you requested a quote or had work done. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, and we will action it promptly. You can also ask us to stop at any time using the contact details below.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to run the business:

  • Our technicians and subcontractors, so they can attend your job.
  • Our job management, customer record, messaging and email providers.
  • Our payment provider, to process payments.
  • Analytics and advertising providers, which receive website usage data.
  • Anyone we are required or permitted to disclose to by law.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Job photographs

Our technicians photograph work sites for quoting, record-keeping and warranty purposes. We may also publish photographs of completed work. Where we do, we do not publish images that show you, anyone in your household, your street number, your letterbox, your vehicle registration, or any paperwork. If you would prefer we did not photograph or publish work at your property, tell us and we will note it on your job.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and measure our advertising. This includes Google services. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well.

How we keep it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and encrypted connections to our website. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep job records for as long as we need them for warranty, insurance, tax and legal reasons, and then destroy or de-identify them.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we refuse, we will tell you why.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
