It depends on what has failed. A valve or thermostat is a smaller job than a booster element, a pump or a leaking tank. We find the fault first, then give you one fixed price that you approve before any work starts.

The price depends on the size of the tank, whether it sits on the roof or the ground, the type of booster, and how much of the pipework has to change. You get one fixed price for the system and the installation before any work starts, and 0% interest payment plans are available.

Checking that the booster is switched on is fine, but valves, elements, pumps, the tank and anything on the roof are jobs for a licensed plumber. The relief valve protects the tank from too much heat and pressure, so it should never be blocked or tampered with.

On cloudy days and in winter the booster does the heating. If the water stays lukewarm, the booster may be switched off, its element or thermostat may have failed, or the tempering valve may be mixing in too much cold water. We test each one.

A few drips while the tank heats up can be normal, because water expands as it gets hot. A valve that runs constantly, or water pouring out, points to a faulty valve or pressure that is too high, and needs a plumber.

Collectors on the roof absorb heat from the sun and use it to heat water stored in an insulated tank, either on the roof or on the ground. A system with the tank on the ground uses a small pump to move water or fluid to the collectors. When there is not enough sun, a gas or electric booster heats the water instead.
