The Gas Leaks We Repair
Most leaks are at a joint, a fitting or an appliance connection. We find which one, repair it and test the whole installation.

Gas Pipes And Lines
Joints that have loosened and pipe that has corroded or been damaged, under the house, in a wall or across the yard. Remade or replaced, then pressure tested.

After The Gas Meter
Leaks on the pipework after the meter are the property's to fix, and ours to repair. The meter assembly belongs to the gas network, so if the leak is there we tell you and it goes to them.

Gas Bayonets
Bayonet fittings for heaters and barbecues that leak with nothing plugged in, or once the hose is connected. Repaired or replaced, then tested.

Cooktop And Oven Connections
The flexible hose, the connection behind the appliance and its isolation valve. We repair the gas connection and test it, and tell you if the appliance itself is at fault.

Gas Bottles And Regulators
Bottle regulators, pigtails and the pipe from the bottles to the house. A leak at the bottle valve itself goes back to your gas supplier.
What Kind Of Gas Leak Is It?
What to do first depends on how strong the smell is and where it is.

Strong Smell Of Gas Inside
Turn the gas off at the meter if you can reach it safely, open doors and windows, do not use switches or flames, and leave. Call from outside. Finding the leak comes first, which is gas leak detection.

Smell At The Meter Or Bottles
A smell outside at the meter or the gas bottles. If it is the network's meter or the supplier's bottle valve, they repair it; if it is the pipework or fittings on your side, we do, and we tell you which on the day.

Faint Smell Near An Appliance
A faint smell at the cooktop, a heater or a bayonet that comes and goes. Turn that appliance off at its valve and do not use it until the connection has been tested and repaired.
How We Repair A Gas Leak

Gas Leak Repair FAQs
Answer:
It depends on where the leak is and what fixes it. A loose joint or a leaking bayonet is a smaller job than a corroded pipe under the house that has to be replaced. We find the leak first, then give you one fixed price for the repair before any work starts.
Answer:
No. In NSW gasfitting must be done by a licensed gas fitter, and a joint that looks tight can still leak. What you can do is turn the gas off at the meter or at the appliance valve, keep the area aired and call a licensed gas fitter.
Answer:
It depends which side of the meter the leak is on. The gas network looks after the meter and the pipes before it. Everything after the meter, the pipes, fittings, bayonets and appliance connections at your property, is repaired by a licensed gas fitter like ours. If the network has attended and told you to get a plumber, the leak is on your side.
Answer:
If the leak is at the meter assembly, your gas network repairs it. If it is on the pipework after the meter, a licensed gas fitter repairs it. We check which it is when we attend and tell you.
Answer:
Yes. A leaking bayonet is usually repaired by replacing the fitting, then tested once it is back in. Until then, turn it off and do not connect the heater.
Answer:
A leaking bottle regulator or pigtail can be replaced and the connection tested. A leak at the bottle valve itself belongs to your gas supplier, who replaces the bottle.
Answer:
A brief smell as a heater first lights can be normal. A smell that lingers, or that is there when the heater is off, points to a leak at the bayonet, the hose or the heater's connection. Turn it off at the bayonet and have the connection tested before using it again.
Answer:
A leaking joint can often be remade and tested. A pipe that has corroded, cracked or been damaged is replaced in that section. We tell you which it is, and the fixed price, before we start.
